In it’s first year, **Dallahan** was awarded the Emerging Excellence Award from Help Musicians UK and their debut album was shortlisted for 'Album of the Year' at the Scots Trad Music Awards. 2016 saw the release of their second album, '*Matter Of Time*', which they performed globally 103 times that year, including travelling to Kathmandu, Nepal on behalf of the British Council to perform at the British/Nepalese bicentenary celebrations. Come and find out why! **UK singer-songwriter, organic instrumentation with a folk-rock influence.** George has built a solid following throughout the UK and beyond with his captivating and dynamic full band tour performances and festival appearances. He has previously been championed by the likes of Mark Radcliffe on BBC Radio 2 and Cerys Matthews on BBC Radio 6 and George’s 2026 main stage festival appearances include Beardy Folk Festival and Cambridge Folk Festival. While George’s music may be subconsciously informed by the ridings of Yorkshire and the folk tradition so prevalent in the area, his songwriting comes from a deeply personal place. His rich vocals and confident lyrical style are reflected in his storytelling, while his guitar work often echoes **Nick Drake** in approach. Organic instrumentation with a folk-rock influence reminiscent of classic **Crosby, Stills & Nash and Jeff Buckley** is evident. Traditional folk signatures and themes run throughout, blending country motifs and klezmer modes, with the bed-rock pocket of rhythm and blues. George will be joined by his band: Ally McDougal - Drums Will Looms - Electric Guitar Bart Debney-Davies - Bass **Press:** “Skilled guitarist, distinctive songwriter & a fine singer” - **Mark Radcliffe**, BBC Radio 2 “Completely captivating, from infectious tunes to breathtaking a cappella” - Cambridge Folk Festival, UK “It was such a joy to have George Boomsma back at Port Fairy Folk Festival in 2024. His performances across the festival were incredible, and our audiences really resonated strongly with his artistry. Special mention for his work on our famous collaboration concert – ‘The Guitarists’ – where he held 4,000 people in a tent in 42 degree Australian heat! Can’t wait to have him back again” - Port Fairy Folk Festival, AUS The George Boomsma Band is highlighted in our FolkEasters feedback as one of the “new-to-you” artists that they enjoyed the most at this year’s festival – thought provoking and engaging. We have a very discerning audience!! - Folk East Festival, UK Venue Phone: 01926 730102 Email: [email protected]
